Unique, hardware-free casting molds handcrafted for a perfect fit. Made with locally sourced HDPE in North Carolina, these molds can be used for urethanes, epoxies, rubbers, foams, soaps, waxes and more. Withstands heat up to 350 degrees F. Requires no mold release to use thanks to the smooth wall virgin HDPE used in the construction of these re-usable molds. Each mold may be unique in colors of HDPE used. Just what you need to make a “stacked leather” handle for your hidden tang blade. These spacers are held in place with your guard and pommel. Your handle can be finished naturally, use edge dye to darken if desired, or work with neatsfoot oil for a nice hand rubbed oil finish. Can be buffed and polished with rouge on a muslin wheel. Oval shaped, each measures approximately 1 1/2" x 1 1/4" x 1/8" thick the notch is .158" x .450" cut into the center making it very easy to slip onto the tang. These birch bark shingles make an especially unique handle for your hidden tang blade. Each set measures approximately 4.5” and is nicely matched for color and figure. Once handle is shaped, seal with linseed oil for a traditional approach, and allow to set for several weeks. For a faster finish with equal beauty, use our LinSpeed Oil (LS101). For those in a time crunch, use Thin CA Glue (JE204) to seal the birch bark.
